Prolonged drought and heat in Texas can severely impact trees and be detrimental to landscaping plants as well.
The next in Somervell County Master Gardeners Community Horticulture Education Series will explore the basic impacts of drought and heat on trees and help attendees understand their natural response. Participants will also learn how to best prepare for drought by using tactful techniques and good planning to maintain a sustainable and thriving landscape. Future watering restrictions will require your landscape to be more drought tolerant. Are your trees and landscape ready?
Dallas County Master Gardener Steve Houser, who is also a master naturalist and certified arborist, will discuss how to care for trees during rough drought years and also give advice on caring for trees during icy and sub-freeze-prone winters.
Houser is also involved in projects to preserve our historic trees in our region and will give us insight into this exciting and worthy effort.
The Community Horticulture Education Series presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Somervell County Citizens Center, located at 209 SW Barnard in Glen Rose.
